The Parish Room & C3 Presents:  GIVERS w/ The Lemurs and The Laughing
Friday, December 18, 2009
Doors @ 8 PM.  All Ages.
Tickets onsale at http://theparishroom.inticketing.com/events

GIVERS consists of several musicians from various improvisational groups all centered in southwestern Louisiana who have combined to form one cohesive music making body, creating what they refer to as afro-beat, dancy pants, indie pop love music.

GIVERS specialize in sounds that gather together melodically and electronically bent forms of african, folk, and pop music, but send them underwater, where they are refracted with light and space, changing the overall shape and texture into something refreshingly new, yet at the same time, familiar. All natives of southern Louisiana, the members were brought up in a music scene steeped rich in culture, whether it be the cajun or zydeco roots of their hometown, Lafayette, or the funky, dance inducing second line from neighboring New Orleans. Despite the abundance of traditional music surrounding the band, GIVERS have managed to harness a sound of their own, breaking free of tradition, all the while maintaining an honesty in their music which keeps listeners on edge.

At a GIVERS show, one can expect to experience a barrage of colors, both within the music as well as within the visual aesthetic. The chemistry between band members alongside their vibrant light show creates a lucid dream-like atmosphere anywhere GIVERS play, leaving the crowd with no choice but to become a part of what is happening. To be in this experience is to, for a moment, accept the feeling of ascendance, not submergence--to give in to one's vulnerability as set by the music making examples on stage--to let go and truly release.

Despite being a very young band, GIVERS have established themselves in their regional scene by filling venues and reaching multiple maximum capacity limits within their first few shows. They have supported such acts as Dirty Projectors, Casper & the Cookies, Everthus the Deadbeats and MyNameIsJohnMichael. The release of their first EP is slated for September 11th, 2009 while the first full album will be available in the spring of 2010.

QUIET COMPANY:  (www.myspace.com/quietcompany)

Since releasing their critically acclaimed album, Everyone You Love Will Be Happy Soon, Quiet Company has seen a rise in popularity.   Since March, they've shared the stage with The Toadies, Los Lonely Boys, This Will Destroy You, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Dear and the Headlights and Alpha Rev.

Their 1st single "It's Bettter to Spend Money Like There's No Tomorrow Than Spend Today Like There's No Money" has been played over 20 weeks on Andy Langer's Next Big Thing on KROX.  They've also finished filming a video for their new single, "On Modern Men," which was directed by Digital Shakedown's Justin Kirchoff.  You can watch the video for "on Modern Men" here: www.quietcompanymusic.com

FRANK AND DEROL:  (www.myspace.com/frankandderol)

Frank and Derol is a band made up of Codi Caraco, Brandi Cyrus (Appeared in "Hannah Montana" and toured with sister, Miley Cyrus), and Megan Park (star of ABC's "Secret Life of the American Teenager").  Mixing catchy original melodies, intricate harmonies, and contagious beats, the girls have created a sound that is pure indie pop.  As well as musicians, all three girls are writers and work together to make original songs.  Their influences range from Animal Collective and Broken Social Scene to Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Copeland, James Taylor and Patty Griffin. They meet in the middle with a "Wilson Phillips meets Postal Service sound" that will make you want to dance and sing along to their uplifting music.

WINDSOR DRIVE:  (www.myspace.com/windsordrive)

Windsor Drive is a rock/pop band based in Houston, Texas. The group formed in their hometown of Weston, Wisconsin in early 2006. Since then, then band has completed eleven national tours, including 200 dates on the road last year.   With the new EP BRIDGES, Windsor Drive is ready to deliver the latest chapter of their exciting story to the band's ever-expanding fanbase. Recorded in the outskirts of El Paso at the renowned Sonic Ranch Studios, BRIDGES shines with its soaring melodies, sing-a-long hooks, and emotional lyrics. The EP was produced by Stephen Short (Augustana, Camera Can’t Lie) and mixed by Greg Collins (U2, Matchbox Twenty).   The band continues to tour full-time and believe it's the best way to connect with their fanbase. Their Midwestern work ethic shines through on the road: “We are a family, we work together, we tour together and we feel happiest on the road”.
